A user draw is a draw whose public terms are set by its organizer within the options available in ElyxS. Participants can review those terms before joining, while the draw result is determined under rules recorded on the blockchain.
This guide explains the overall model. Separate guides cover the exact creation, participation, management, and verification steps.
How a user draw differs from other draws
A platform lottery follows a format defined by ElyxS. A jackpot has its own participation and prize-pool rules. A user draw is different because its organizer chooses the available schedule, participation rules, winner-selection method, number of prize places, and prize arrangement.
The organizer can choose only from the options currently offered for their wallet. The public terms of each draw, rather than its name or cover, determine how that draw works.
Who is responsible for what
The organizer prepares the description and terms. They also fund a contract-held prize or take responsibility for delivering an organizer-provided prize.
The participant reads the terms, uses the intended wallet, and decides whether to join. The organizer's wallet cannot participate in its own draw.
The smart contracts record the draw rules and valid participation, verify the Supra dVRF response, and record the result. ElyxS presents that blockchain record and the actions currently available to each wallet.
How the draw progresses
- The organizer submits a request with the public description and draw terms.
- After the request is processed, a separate draw is created. It may appear before participation opens.
- Participants receive or buy tickets while participation is open and within the stated limits.
- When participation closes, the draw either advances to winner selection or follows an exceptional path if its required conditions were not met.
- Supra dVRF supplies verifiable randomness. The smart contract applies the recorded selection rules and fixes the winners.
- Winners receive or claim prizes according to the published prize arrangement. Eligible payments from a canceled paid draw follow the refund flow shown for that draw.
The request and the created draw are related but not the same object. Their progress can therefore be shown separately. For status meanings and organizer actions, use How to manage a user draw.
Participation and entry rules
A user draw may offer free or paid participation. A free ticket can still require a blockchain transaction and a network fee. A paid draw shows its ticket price and payment asset in its terms.
The terms also state the participation window, total ticket limit, limit per wallet, minimum participation needed for the draw to proceed, and number of prize places. Check these values on the draw you intend to join; they are not universal settings for every user draw.
For the participation flow, see How to buy tickets.
How chances and winners work
User draws can use different selection rules. Depending on the published terms:
- every participating wallet may have one equal chance;
- additional tickets may increase a wallet's chance;
- one wallet may be limited to one prize place or may be able to win more than once with different tickets.
Supra dVRF provides randomness for the specific draw. The smart contract verifies that response and applies the selection rule fixed for that draw. The organizer cannot manually choose or replace the winners.
Prize and funding rules
The prize arrangement determines who holds and delivers the prize:
- With a contract-held prize, the designated asset is placed under smart-contract control and is handled by the contract flow.
- With an organizer-provided prize, the blockchain records the terms and winner, but the contract does not hold, verify, or deliver the prize. Delivery remains the organizer's responsibility.
Only rely on the prize arrangement published for the draw. Prizes in user draws explains custody, receipt, and cancellation outcomes in detail.
Timing and fixed terms
The terms specify when participation can open, when it closes, and which minimum conditions must be met. A scheduled time is the earliest intended start, not a guarantee that a transaction or page update will occur at an exact second.
After the request is submitted, its description and draw parameters cannot be edited. While the request is still waiting for completion, the organizer may cancel it. Different terms require a new request.
Exceptional outcomes
If the required participation is not reached, the draw does not select winners. A paid draw then follows its cancellation and refund process; free participation creates no ticket payment to return.
The website can update after the blockchain. If a recent action is still being checked, do not repeat it solely because the page has not changed. First review the original transaction and the current draw state.
What to check before participating
- You opened a user draw, not a platform lottery or jackpot.
- Participation is open and you understand its closing conditions.
- You know whether entry is free or paid, including the ticket and wallet limits.
- You understand how chances are counted and whether one wallet can win more than once.
- You know how many prize places exist and who is responsible for the prize.
- The network, contract, and transaction details match the draw you intended to use.
